You came
here alone.
Maybe that's exactly how you wanted it.
A few days somewhere you've never been.
No plans you have to agree on.
No one asking what you want to do next.
There is
something there.
There is something there.
JUNO PORTALS is a location-based discovery platform designed primarily for women travelling alone.
Across beaches, cliffs, ruins, streets, islands and cities, we create experiences connected to real places.
You can see a portal on the map.
But you can't open it from your hotel room.
You have to get close.
And when you do, something is waiting for you.
- A story.
- A voice.
- A myth.
- A dare.
- A choice.
- A secret.
- A woman.
- A photograph.
- A ritual.
- A strange little mission.
- A relic.
A different way to travel alone.
Most travel apps are very good at telling you what you should see.
The best beach.
The famous restaurant.
The viewpoint everyone photographs.
PORTALS isn't another list.
It doesn't try to optimise your trip.
It gives you a reason to wander.
To take the road you wouldn't have taken.
To walk another kilometre.
To notice something.
To experience a place instead of simply passing through it.
Google Maps can tell you where to go.
PORTALS asks: what could happen to you there?
Built for going alone.
There is a particular kind of freedom in travelling alone.
You wake up and the day belongs entirely to you.
You can change your mind. Stay longer. Leave earlier. Walk for hours. Talk to strangers. Disappear into a museum. Eat dinner at 4 PM.
But solo travel has other moments too.
The afternoon when you've seen the obvious things and wonder what to do next.
The evening when you'd like a reason to leave your room again.
The beautiful place you almost don't visit because no one is waiting for you there.
The moment you wish there were something pulling you a little further into the world.
We don't give you an itinerary.
We give you a reason to go.
The world has a second layer.
A place can be more than what it says on the map.
A staircase down to a beach can become a descent.
An abandoned fortress can hold a secret.
A narrow street can introduce you to a woman who walked it centuries before you.
A cliff at the edge of a continent can ask you to leave something behind.
PORTALS places another layer over the world you are already exploring. One made from stories, mythology, women, play, curiosity and the places themselves.
The landscape isn't the background.
It's part of the experience.
How it works
- 01 Find Open PORTALS and see what's around you.
- 02 Go Choose one and make your way there.
- 03 Unlock Once you're close enough, the portal opens.
- 04 Experience Listen. Read. Look. Choose. Search. Photograph. Do the dare.
- 05 Keep What you find becomes part of your personal map.
Proof that you went.
Not self-help with GPS.
You don't need to find yourself.
You don't need to heal anything.
You don't need to become a better version of yourself before your flight home.
PORTALS isn't therapy disguised as travel.
Sometimes a portal will make you think.
Sometimes it will make you do something you wouldn't normally do.
Sometimes you'll learn the story of a woman who lived two thousand years before you.
Sometimes you'll take a photograph you keep forever.
Sometimes you'll simply stand somewhere beautiful and think:
I'm really glad I came here.
Experience first.
Meaning can come later.
Women have always left home.
- Pilgrims.
- Writers.
- Runaways.
- Explorers.
- Artists.
- Exiles.
- Queens.
- Witches.
- Saints.
JUNO has always been fascinated by the many ways a woman can exist.
PORTALS takes those stories out of books and places them back into the world.
You might encounter Aphrodite on an island.
Artemis on a mountain.
Persephone at the bottom of a long descent.
Lilith somewhere you're not supposed to be.
Or a woman you've never heard of whose story suddenly follows you for the rest of the day.
They are not there to tell you who you are.
They are there to accompany you for a little while.
Solo doesn't have to mean solitary.
PORTALS was built with the solo female traveller in mind.
But you don't have to come alone.
Bring your best friend. Your sister. Your mother. Your girlfriend. Your partner. The woman you met yesterday at the hostel.
Some portals can be experienced together.
Some may even require another person.
And some things are simply better when there's someone beside you to turn to afterwards and say:
What the hell was that?
Made for curious women.
For women who book the flight.
Who take themselves somewhere they've never been.
Who like stories more than sightseeing lists.
Who love beautiful places but don't need another Instagram hotspot.
Who will walk 1.4 kilometres because something on a map says UNKNOWN.
Who like mythology, mystery, strange facts, hidden histories and little adventures.
Who still want the world to surprise them.
Especially when they're travelling alone.
Designed with solo travel in mind.
Mystery should make travel more exciting.
Not less safe.
That's why PORTALS considers what it means to explore somewhere on your own.
Portals are curated with their surroundings in mind.
- Distance.
- Accessibility.
- Terrain.
- Time of day.
- Isolation.
We will never ask you to ignore your instincts for the sake of completing a portal.
Curiosity gets you there.
Your judgement always comes first.
Your map becomes your story.
Places you went because something was waiting there.
Things you discovered.
Things you did.
Stories you now know.
Moments nobody else experienced in exactly the same way.
I'll go see what's there.
A little more about PORTALS.
What can a JUNO PORTALS experience contain?
A JUNO PORTALS experience is location-specific and can combine story, mythology, history, culture, action, discovery, a woman connected to the place or a digital relic. Every portal can be different, and the real-world place itself is part of the experience.
Do you have to travel alone to use JUNO PORTALS?
JUNO PORTALS is designed primarily for women travelling alone, but the experiences do not always have to be completed alone. Some portals can be experienced with friends, partners or other travellers.
Is JUNO PORTALS only about mythology?
JUNO PORTALS is not only about mythology. Portals can draw from mythology, history, culture, art, local stories, women across time and the place itself. The content depends on the location and the experience.
What happens after you complete a JUNO PORTALS portal?
After a traveller completes a JUNO PORTALS portal, the completed portal can become part of her personal journey, creating a record of the places and experiences she has discovered. Some portals may also include a digital relic connected to the experience.
You don't need a plan.
You're already somewhere new.
Open the map.
Find the nearest portal.
And go.
There is something there.
